  • Tell us about your story so far?

    I started at Alston Bar & Beef as somebody with a little bit of experience but not a lot. Now two years later I’ve helped write dessert menus, I run pastry, I can do all the sections in the kitchen including running the path. In that short amount of time I’ve come really far already.

  • What do you like most about working here?

    Each place has its own team but we all know each other across establishments and we all keep in touch and meet up at times. It’s just this huge support network which is really positive and really nice to work with.

  • What’s been your biggest achievement so far?

    I think writing dessert menus is pretty big for me because I didn’t think I could do that two years ago, I didn’t even think I could work in pastry so that’s been pretty massive.

  • What makes someone successful here?

    It’s all about looking after each other and making it fun for each other so that if the occasional bad day comes along it’s not that bad because we just laugh about it and get on with it together.

  • Tell us about the training and development...

    Personally I’ve had amazing training. Two years ago I really didn’t know much at all, my Head Chef Nicola worked really closely with me and developed skills I didn’t even know I had which is quite common across Glendola. They’re really keen at finding out what people are good at and developing that.

  • What do you think makes us unique as an employer?

    Something I really like is that with upper management you see them all the time, you speak to them, you know who they are, they’re not this hidden figure. We’re all on a first name basis, we know each other and we chat, it’s good.
