At the time they were just opening Silk & Grain and they were looking for staff. I was interested about the new concept (barrel aged cocktails), so I decided to try. I went to an open day interview and I was lucky because I was accepted.
I am from Lithuania and moved over to London. I have done couple of jobs before I started to work in Silk & Grain, but I haven’t worked anywhere as long as I am working in this place. This shows that I really enjoy what I do.
The shift starts off preparing the restaurant, we need to set up all the tables and get ready for the customers. Lunch time which lasts for 2-3 hours is usually very busy, most of our customers are business people, so they come with their clients and have lunch for couple of hours. After that our place gets quieter so we have time to prepare for the evening service. In the evening we mostly have drinks parties.
I like that every day is different, you meet different people. This is what makes the job not boring.
I have learnt so much while working here, I started everything from zero. I am glad that I have got so many trainings and learnt many different things, I was even sent to Bordeaux in France to get more knowledge about wines.
You need to like communicating with people and you should be up for learning something new. Of course, you need to be hard working person.
Training for me started the first day when I started working in Silk & Grain. I learnt about customer service, about the steaks and cocktails. Later on I was on wine training course, we got training about spirits as well. I feel like company tries hard to give as much knowledge as possible to their staff.
I like working here, I like my team, my customers. And it is very important, because you need to feel good in the place you work in.
Being loyal, willing to learn.
If you are fun, communicative, hardworking person, this company is a great choice and you should try your luck.
The Intouchables. French movie, which shows you that doesn’t matter how desperate you think you are, you can do everything in your life, just never give up.
I don’t think I have one. I listen to very different kinds of music, so I can’t really specify one.
I would invite my closest family members, because I don’t really see them that much, they are far away from me, in another country.
Somewhere in the Caribbean. I have never been there so my dream is to go there one day, I believe holidays there would be amazing.
