Adi - Duty Manager
Prince Alfred
To have a new experience and to get experience in an industry where I hadn’t worked full time or professionally before.
I started off as a waiter. The pub had a very good regular base of customers who were very friendly and helpful. I was able to chat a lot about products, events in the industry, able to socialise and network, which has taken my confidence to a new level. I was able to balance between socialising and giving out great customer service, which gave me tremendous level of intrinsic job satisfaction. Now here I am, comfortably managing this business which feels like my own baby.
Beyond being able to serve, maintain the existing customer base and creating new base of customers, the job satisfaction I get is invaluable. It feels good to know that I would be staying with Glendola for a long time and wherever I go after, I’ll be able to carry my transferrable skills of management and customer service to any other industry.
The support I was given from day one on the premises and from the management of the company. There were several training sessions which developed my operation skills including workshops on service, products and management.
As far as achievements go, I’m pretty subdued about blowing my own trumpet. However, I was able to participate on a Level 1 Wine taster and did very well at it. Alongside, I was able to sit for and obtained a APLH personal license to sell alcohol.
You can start at any level or proficiency. However, integrity, initiative to take control and complete a task and displaying consistency will take you far with us.
After the trial shifts if you are successful, you will be given a brief about the daily tasks that are to be completed on whichever area (bar/ floor/ restaurant) that you start on. There are also online training modules which will help you develop your skills and knowledge on products, service, health and safety, etc. Upon completing the probationary period, the unit might also decide to send you on training courses, service skills workshops and many other places. A 13 week plan is completed after the probationary period to identify your needs within the company and where you might see yourself in the future with us, which is quite helpful.
Very enjoyable with lots of opportunity to serve, socialise and even network within the industry if it takes your fancy!
Glendola always tends to hire positive individuals with open and positive attitude, which makes it a perfect workplace! Whether you decide to work for the short or the long term, this is the place to be off to a great career path!
Go for it! We look forward to meeting and supporting you!
The Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul by Douglas Adams; focusing on a holistic detective agency and very random events beautifully and comically influencing each other.

1. My Geography teacher from secondary school; who said I wouldn’t leave my own city to travel anywhere (18 countries and still counting!)
2. Trevor Noah- a famous comedian from South Africa
3. Ronnie James Dio (let’s pretend he is still alive!)
4. My colleague Marco Marzico (never get enough banter!)
A very sunny spot either in Valencia or Caribbean where the weather is always warm and sunny. It’s much easier to work and enjoy yourself during the summer period, no?
